| Grenache, Shiraz (Syrah), and Mourvèdre are the classic Rhône grapes used to blend Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. In the 19th century, these red grape varieties were among the first planted in South Australia - which also shares a similar Southern Rhône (Mediterranean) climate. For several decades, Australian winemakers have been blending these three varietals, commonly referred to as GSM, to create their descendant wines. These GSM blends are becoming a signature style for area wineries, challenging the prominence of single varietal Shiraz wines.
Our GSM varietal blend consists of 60% Grenache, 25% Shiraz and 15% Mourvèdre creating a full-bodied red wine. Deep crimson in colour; the nose is vibrant and alive with dark cherry and ripe earthy fruit aromas and a hint of smoke. The palate is dominated by the Grenache's rich flavours of ripe plum and black cherries. Fine grained tannins stretch across a rich, concentrated palate. The spicy generosity of the Shiraz and structural contribution of the Mourvèdre lead to a long, persistent and well balanced finish.
